So I had the first surgery done and over with. It went amazingly well. I must admit that I was actually concerned about being put under this time, I'm not sure why, maybe too many episodes of Nip/Tuck. Anyways I had to be there for 9am and surgery was scheduled for 10:30am. I arrived and was told that I would be going in right away because the first surgery of the morning had been cancelled so within 45 minutes I was checked in and in the operating room lying there waiting to go under. I almost laughed because the anaesthesiologist (no idea how to spell that) said "you're going to feel a little pin prick" I always think that having an IV put in is like having a fork prong put into you, not a pin prick. Then the nurse gave me some oxygen, I had to look twice to make sure that the hose was connected, I had a friend that killed a cat because the oxygen wasn't properly hooked up. Then I went under. Now I must give you a bit of history for those of you who I didn't talk to. I believed that this was going to go extremely well and that within days I would be back to my normal self with little pain. A friend of mine who also had a breast reduction told me otherwise, she said I wouldn't want to lift my arms, wear clothes and I would be in excruciating pain. I awoke in recovery and yes I was in pain but it sure wasn't like when I had my stomach cut open from my breast plate to my belly button. After chatting with the nurses in recovery for 20 minutes I was moved back into the day ward. After 45 minutes I was up, walking around, had a piece of very dry toast, and then dressed to go home. So we left, picked up my prescription for pain and antibiotics and then went to the hotel room. After being there for an hour or so it was apparent that I wasn't going to sleep so we went out shopping and then for supper. I was totally fine. On a scale of one to ten for pain I was a 1-2. It was amazing! I had tried to prepare myself because I had the attitude that it wasn't going to hurt a lot but then I tried to think that this very may well hurt a lot and I need to accept the pain if it does. The only thing that did suck was that I didn't know that there was caffeine in the Tylenol and it kept me awake all night, I had about 2 hours of sleep. Then the next morning I went to the clinic they took out the drainage tubes and changed my dressing. I saw them for the first time and this may be gross but I couldn't stop looking. They are so small and perky!! I was sitting there with no bra and they didn't move, they just sat there! Now going from boobs that were like milk cow jugs to these little things that don't move I am amazed! I keep saying that they are so small but they are just perfect, if they are swollen right now that's okay and if they stay this size that's okay too. They are just so much better than I ever anticipated. So thank you God for blessing the surgeon's hands and giving me nice boobs for Christmas. A friend said that I must have been a good girl this year to get boobs for Christmas and I was!! I haven't decided if I will post the before and after pictures yet. I think they look great, stitches and all but I don't want to gross people out.
